Kite ace Bainbridge seals country spot for Britain

RYA selectors to meet next week

Connor Bainbridge has booked Team GB a berth at Paris 2024 in the Men’s Kite fleet – meaning all ten Olympic classes will be represented.

Bainbridge is currently leading the Formula Kite fleet at the Last Chance Regatta in Hyeres, the final opportunity for country qualification for the Olympics.

In order to bag a spot for Britain Bainbridge needs to finish the regatta in the top five nations.

Bainbridge has so far won eight of the 14 races, and leads the fleet by 16 points.

Topping the table means he heads straight into Thursday’s four-person final and can’t finish lower than fourth.

RYA selectors will meet early next week to discuss nominating an athlete to the British Olympic Association to represent Team GB in Marseille this summer.

The official website featuring results and the full entry list is here. If you want to track the progress of the Brits the best place to do so is the British Sailing Team social media channels. Each day we will keep you posted on results, and feature the best photos the event has to offer.
